Once I got to 37% total countries identified (seen?), it basically stopped showing me new countries. I went through five or so rounds without seeing anything that I hadn’t seen before. Which was gratifying, since I was getting 20/20 every time, but you might tweak it a little to add in new countries more frequently.
"all countries" doesn't really show all countries. It seems all countries might be in the pool, but there is no weighted randomness, so you end up getting the same flags, and only a few new ones.
Forcing all flags to be in the same aspect ratio really makes the flags look strange, or rather, not how they really are. This also makes things like Monaco/Indonesia identification more difficult, and flags with horizontal stripes to look strange (Sudan, Cuba, etc).
Some flags seem to look odd or broken? Such as Ecuador which looks like a kid drew it and is pretty broken. Some flags have a weird border around them too, as if they haven't been placed or rendered correctly.
I'm not sure if having a list of flags just below the quiz helps the integrity of it. I'm also not sure of all the AI generated stuff. Are people really mixing up Morroco and Veitnam? Getting to that page again is difficult and unclear, you need to click the flag from the country page, or get it wrong in a quiz. I feel it's a little confusing to have separate pages describing the country and flag. Especially considering its a website about flags.
Huh, it has grouping for the multiple choice, so for a red and white flag (2 horizontal stripes) with some stars the options are Monaco, Indonesia, Singapore, Poland. All of which are horizontally striped and have those 2 colors.
Same with the Nordic flags, which have similar geometry but different colors.
Nice website! Could you tell use a bit more about this project? What prompted you to make it? I've been looking for a good ad-free, account-free minimal flag learning website and this looks like a good fit.
This is a lot of fun. My 'biggest' gripe is that in the shapes quiz Tuvalu and the Seychelles are so tiny that no image displayed for me that I could see.
Btw, really smooth. It works really well!
I made a similar but uglier little party game https://geo-dude.com for my kids. Supports up to 4 players

A while ago I practiced every day on an android app, and the pleasure I got when I finally got 196/196 was extremely satisfying.
I'd also like to recommend that flags of different aspect ratios be shown correctly.

Nicely curated.
Nepal with it's extraordinary format seems to be represented ok.
